ABOUT SAMEERA

Sameera Changi Presswala, to put it simply by all those who had the good fortune of knowing her, was a 29 year old bundle of joy! If there was one person on this earth who knew how to make the most of everyday that she opened her eyes, that would be her! Adventurous and enterprising would be the two words that described her perfectly.

Sameera succumbed to her breast cancer on September 20, 2015. Just the way the cells inside her body didn’t seem to ever want to rest, similarly her mind was never at ease. Constantly challenging the rapid pace at which the cells wanted to destroy the body, her mind was always in a race to beat the bastards! It is then safe to say that while the cancer may have taken over her physical self, it never once did stand a chance against her spirit. And that is why, in all of this, the eventual winner is Sam!

Ever since Sam learned what the word “independence” meant, that’s what she wanted to be! She always imagined herself travelling the world, making pot loads of money, being highly successful, chasing her dreams no matter what the cost, while at the same time keeping her dignity and consciousness intact.

Unfortunately, due to a strange twist of fate, her steady job as that of the Director of Communications at a leading Not-for-profit organization needed to take a back seat as more important issues needed her undivided attention. One amongst those, was creating a memory bank for her three year old daughter Armeen, that she could later grow up and remember her by.

This blog is an attempt in that direction. Armeen was Sam's life for the span of three years that she was with her, and it was her biggest fear that her daughter would not remember her. It is our biggest mission now, that of her family and friends, to ensure that that doesn't happen. This blog is a means for Armeen to always feel connected to her mother through the eyes of those closest to her. It is a means through which Armeen will always remember the woman whose life revolved around her since the day she was born, but at the same time, never feel her absence due to the abundance of love that will be pouring in her way.
